Endurance training…for a cause

In the next few weeks I’ll be doing some endurance training to get me through those long days of hosting and/or playing in wiffle tournaments. To be better prepared for these 10-12 hour days, I’ve decided to do some distance cycling. Actually, I hate cycling and I hate 99% of obnoxious cyclists on the roads. However, two of my clients-turned-friends have asked me to join a team in cycling for a great cause.   They, unfortunately, have been suffering from Freidriech’s Ataxia, a genetic neuromuscular disease, since the age of 8.   So, I’ve taken the training wheels off of my bicycle. FARA (Freidriech’s Ataxia Research Alliance) is hosting a 50-mile ride on October 10th to raise money, which will hopefully fund a cure for this debilitating neuromuscular disease. I’ll be riding as part of a 10 person team, based out of southern Connecticut.
If you want to find out more info about the race, click here

Any donations would be very much appreciated and not overlooked during next year’s tournament play…thanks.

How to build a BLWB strikezone

pretty simple, really. PVC pipe (we use 3/4 inch) + sheet metal + tie wraps = strikezone. Of course, you’ll have to experiment with the dimensions that you like. Now get out there and build one for yourself. There’s plenty of nice weather remaining in 2010 here in New England. And if you’re playing in the Venice Beach league starting in October, you might want to build one and start practicing.kevin swing and a miss

WIFFLE BALL Song

Do you like Phil Collins? I’ve been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn’t understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins’ presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group’s undisputed masterpiece. It’s an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Christy, take off your robe. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. Sabrina, remove your dress. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. Sabrina, why don’t you, uh, dance a little. Take the lyrics to Land of Confusion. In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority.
