Sox/Yanks 5/17…cont.

Really, Pap?? Not good…Not good at all.
Well, thankfully Big Papi proved me wrong last night. Guess that’s why Francona is the manager, not me.
Last night the Sox should have proven that they were down, but not out. What an amazing comeback in the late innings. To chip away at a 5 run deficit after 2 innings vs New York should have been a great accomplishment and possibly a much needed turning point for Boston’s 2010 season. Enter Papelbon…up 2 runs…9th inning. Game over, right??? Wrong. Are you kidding me? Good idea Pap, straight fastball, heart of the plate, to A-Rod. Not smart. Steroids or not, the guy is going to jack that one. Learn from the mistakes that Beckett/Matsuzaka have been making…too many fastballs. You can’t overpower hitters with a 94 mph fastball. 98-100 mph, ok. But on a night when the splitter was working so well (it looked like a wiffle ball, dropping off the table), why not mix in a few more instead of throwing mediocre fastballs right over the plate?…twice, with the same result. Bombs away. You better believe Thames was sitting on that one. Hindsight is always 20/20, so I just hope he learns.
Great to see that the offense is producing, though. Stay positive, it’s still May.
