Krusty’s Kids have been playing competitive wiffle ball since 1997. Created by Jack Caton and his brother Matt, their team name was derived from the Simpson’s character Krusty the Clown. Their team’s been around eleven years before krusty’s kids were ever stated on the show. (Not in a wiffle ball context of course.)
The Simpson’s: Season 19. Episode 10. “E Pluribus Wiggum.”
Springfield becomes the site of the first presidential primary. The townspeople soon get sick of all of the presidential candidates sucking up to them, and decide to support their own write-in candidate: Ralph Wiggum.
Jon Stewart: “Hey Krusty, I haven’t seen you since you bailed on that benefit.”
Krusty: “Yeah, I didn’t really believe in the cause.”
Jon Stewart: “Well Krusty’s Kids sure missed you.”
Krusty: “Yeah, they’re great. A little clingy.”
Whitey Whackers. Although I’ve yet to speak to them regarding the origins of this team name or it’s meaning, suffice to say theirs too has been said in the popular cartoon.
The Simpson’s: Season 8. Episode 11. “The Twisted World of Marge Simpson.”
In it Marge takes on a new venture making and selling pretzels. Lisa suggests that Marge “think big”, and so the family offer “Free Pretzel Day” at the Springfield Isotopes baseball stadium. Before the crowd has a chance to consume their complimentary pretzel, it is announced that Mr. Burns has won a 1997 Pontiac Astro Wagon in the day’s give-away competition. The supporters react angrily to the news and bombard the field with the pretzels, knocking out Whitey Ford in the process
Announcer #1: “And here come the pretzels!”
Marge: “Oh, no! No, don’t do that! You’re supposed to be tasting them!”
Announcer #2: “Hall of Famer Whitey Ford now on the field pleading with the crowd for… for some kind of sanity.”
Announcer #1: “Uh-oh, and a barrage of pretzels now knocking Whitey unconscious.”
Announcer #2: “Wow. This is uh… This is a black day for baseball.”
Afterwards in the kitchen, Bart and Homer try to cheer up a much-depressed Marge.
Bart: “Cheer up, Mom. You can’t buy publicity like that. Thousands and thousands of people saw your pretzels injuring Whitey Ford!”
Homer: “You could call them Whitey-Whackers.
-Buy one and get a chance to knock Whitey yourself.”

TDC: (Team Discovery Channel) I laughed after hearing that TDC stood for Team Discovery Channel. Awesome, awesome team name! I knew right away this was a Simpson’s quote. (Needless to say I watch the show all the time.) Although I never asked, I’d be shocked if this isn’t where they got their name.
The Simpson’s: Season 6. Episode 24: “Lemon of Troy”
The children of Springfield wage war on Shelbyville, after their beloved town lemon tree comes up missing.
Bart: “Good idea. Millhouse, you and me will be Omega Team. Todd, you and Data are Team Strike Force. Nelson, that leaves you and Martin.”
Martin: “Team Discovery Channel!”
Nelson: “(groaning) Oh…your wussiness better come in handy.”
