Invention From Inventor Tim Blacquier
The idea first came to me years ago when my friends and I played wiffleball all summer in my parents backyard. We kept chasing loose pitches underneath the deck, so I built a rudimentary backstop out of plywood, that I then made into a strikezone – if you hit the board it was a strike. I drilled a hole in the middle just large enough for a ball to fit through, and we altered the rules so that a pitch through the hole was an automatic out (the “perfect pitch”). It kept the game moving and was a lot of fun. The idea came rushing back to me recently when I was on Quirky.com and decided to update it a bit to include an app, sensor and light-up abilities. I’d love to get some feedback from the Wiffleball community, and potentially some votes to help get it made.
