Fan Mail

Just like Santa, BLWB gets the occasional piece of fan mail or the Dear Nick and Jared. Below we’ve attached a few of our favorites:

My name is Chris Beattie.I`m the bass player from the band Hatebreed (www.hatebreed.com).We just finished the Mayhem Festival Tour in the U.S.Every night after the show we played wiffle ball under the lights. We’ve been doing this for years and have a pretty strong group of players.I was born in Bridgeport,CT and have been playing wiffle ball my entire life.I currently reside in Bristol,CT when not on tour. We`re looking to step it up and play in some tournaments when we can.I know people from bands all over the country(who we played with all summer) and can maybe turn this into some nationwide event.Would love to find out if there are any upcoming tournaments and be a part.I didn’t see much on your website as far as a schedule and was wondering if there was some way to stay informed.Hope to speak to you soon, C.Beattie

Hi, I am a kid who is in a wiffle ball league that is just starting up. We are kind of going blindly at this point and Im not sure if we can get it to work well this way. Do you perhaps have any tips on how to succesfully run a good wiffleball league that will be fun and competitive? Thank you in advance for your help or at the very least reading this message.

Nick and Jared,

I have been following your league for a couple years now. I see you on television and read about you in the paper. Congrats on your on-going success!

Just found out about BIG LEAGUE WHIFFLEBALL on the internet, and, as the commissioner of another sports organization, I wanted to offer my congratulations.I’m positive BIG LEAGUE WHIFFLEBALL has to be one of the greatest things going in WHIFFLEBALL today.

I remember growing up and summers full of WHIFFLEBALL, and the cramped confines of our backyard memorial stadium. I remember the fabulous custom rules. One out or 4 batters per inning. If it hits the roof and bounces over, it’s a double. If it hits the roof but doesn’t bounce over its in play and can be caught as it rolls off for an out. If you pick up the ball as a batter and “throw” it back to the pitcher by hitting it with the bat, your out. If you hit a foul ball over the fence your out, plus “you hit it, you get it,” especially if it went in the crabby neighbor’s yard with the big dog. And of course, the biggest kid on the block’s favorite rule, you can get a batter or baserunner out if, after the ball is hit, the fielder picks it up and throws it at the runner as he runs to the next base and hit him with it, if the runner isn’t touching a base. The runner’s head always seemed to be the target :)

For all the whiffleballs we broke or lost, we were definately an economic stimulus to your nearby whiffleball factory!

I guarantee you. It kicked butt! And it sounds to me like that’s exactly the kind of spirit of (waiving my finger in the air as I type it) BIG LEAGUE WHIFFLEBALL!

So just wanted to say congratulations once again on BIG LEAGUE WHIFFLEBALL, and wish you a long, hot, memory-making and very successful summer jam packed with BIG LEAGUE WHIFFLEBALL. And thanks for reviving my own memories of one of the greatest sports ever, WHIFFLEBALL!

Hi,

Can you please send me official dimensions on field size… such as foul pole to foul pole and distance to single, double, triple, and HR. I am building a field in the spring and was trying to figure out how big of an area will be taken up. You actually sent this info to me about 2 months ago, but my computer crashed and I lost some info.

Thanks ,

Todd in PA

Hi my name is Kevin Mason a wiffler from Monroe, Ct. My friends and I are trying to plan the first ever Connecticut Wiffle Ball classic. A No-Bases wiffle ball tournament to determine the #1 Wiffle Ball team in CT. Each city/town can allow two teams to repsersent their city. I was wondering if you could help us make this happen.

Thanks,
Kevin
